Why Choose Us?

There are plenty of cobberdog breeders scattered around the country, so why choose us?

You frequently hear the words 'ethical' and 'responsible' in the breeding world, so we want to explain exactly what it means to us.

We are ethical and responsible breeders, only producing puppies in response to demand. Our puppies are highly sought after because of the reputation we've gained as responsible, professional, knowledgeable and approachable people with outstanding systems in place to support our prospective puppy buyers. We try to educate the Cobberdog community as much as we can, including owners of pups from all other breeders. We have amassed a following of over 6500 people worldwide on our Australian Cobberdogs - All Ages Page on Facebook. Because we only produce litters when we've deemed a pairing to be exemplary, we have the time and resources available to ensure every puppy buyer is supported appropriately. Being an ethical dog breeder means we prioritise the health and wellbeing of our dogs above all else. This involves carefully selecting breeding pairs based on factors such as temperament, genetic health, and conformation to breed standards.

As ethical breeders we provide our dogs with proper socialisation, exercise, and veterinary care. We are committed to ensuring that our dogs are placed in loving, responsible homes that are a good match for their individual needs and personalities. This involves screening potential adopters, providing them with education and resources on responsible dog ownership, and being available to answer any questions or concerns they may have throughout the dog's lifetime.

Above all, being an ethical dog breeder is about being a responsible steward of the breed and ensuring that our dogs have the best possible quality of life. It requires a deep commitment to the wellbeing of our dogs, as well as a willingness to continually ourselves and stay up-to-date on the latest developments in canine health and welfare.

What sets us apart?

- We only use the highest quality breeding stock who've been genetically tested and cleared of all known inheritable diseases.

- Our breeding dogs have had their hips scored to ensure they are suitable for breeding. Whilst costly, we made the decision in 2022 to have all of our dogs assessed against PennHip as this is considered the 'gold star' in the breeding world.

- Our breeding stock are our pets, or live with friends and family nearby. They engage in obedience training and are fed human-grade meals to ensure they are in optimal condition for reproduction.

- Not only are they enriched physically, but they also engage in cognitively stimulating activities. Cobbers are clever dogs, so channelling their energy into meaningful tasks is an excellent way to enrich their lives.

- We offer a LIFETIME guarantee to offer advice and help mitigate any challenges you may encounter.

- We provide you with a chocka-block puppy pack full of hundreds of dollars of goodies to ensure your new puppy transitions into your home as seamless as possible. This includes toys, food, treats, mouthing chews, poo bags, drinking bowls, puppy sprinklers, seatbelts and so much more!

- We provide you with a digital copy and a hard copy of our published Puppy Information Guide.

- We supply you with food for the first few days when puppy joins your family.

- We purchase a month's worth of pet insurance when pups are eight weeks old. This gives you 4 weeks of complimentary insurance (it just lapses if you choose not to renew it).

- We purchase online puppy training for you, so you can continue training at home (until your pup has been vaccinated and can safely be out in the community).

- We invite you to join our litter group on Facebook where you will be the first to hear about the puppies' birth and receive daily updates about the litter. We also upload videos demonstrating the daily activities we undertake with the puppies (desensitisation).

- We fully commit to raising the puppies in a safe and structured environment. They will remain indoors until they're four weeks old, when we will introduce them to a small grassed area outdoors. Their play area increases in size every day until they're ready to leave at 8 weeks.

- We welcome FaceTime calls when you've been allocated your puppy. You can take a virtual tour of our puppy facilities and see your puppy in real time.

- Puppies leave here vaccinated and wormed (to date), with a health/vaccination certificate, and a folder containing their insurance policy and pedigree (if they have arrived from the MDBA; if not, I will post them to you).

- Pups are toilet trained by four weeks of age. Whilst we expect accidents from time to time, the pups are so familiar with the routine here (and we are accustomed to their cues) that we seldom see 'accidents' after 4 weeks of age. Of course we still expect accidents from time to time, particularly when they join your family and need to adapt to new routines.

- We make a solid start on crate training.

- Pups have learnt basic commands such as 'sit' and 'leave it'.
