Who Can We Help?

Children and young people are our future. We feel a moral obligation to ensure that they are equipped with the skills they need to function effectively in school, the community, the workplace and life.

Research tells us that early intervention is the most effective way to support the education and wellbeing of children. It can help them develop the skills they need to take part in everyday activities and live a wholesome, enriching life. We have created Daley Connections so every child and young person can develop a sense of connectedness with themselves, with others and with the communities in which they participate.

Vineland-3 Adaptive Behaviour Assessments

A Vineland-3 assessment provides a reliable, valid, comprehensive, norm-based measure of adaptive behaviour skills (daily functioning) for children and adults. It examines a person’s level of independence and helps to identify additional areas of daily living where they require support. A Vineland-3 aids diagnosis and classification of disabilities and disorders. It helps monitor a person’s progress over time and results can be linked to support programs and funding, such as NDIS, education support in schools, and the disability pension. The Vineland specifically evaluates the following domains:

Communication

  • Receptive

  • Expressive

  • Written

Daily Living Skills

  • Domestic skills

  • Community

Socialisation Interpersonal Relationships

  • Play and Leisure

  • Coping Skills

Motor Skills (optional)

  • Gross Motor

  • Fine Motor (birth – 9 years)

Maladaptive Behaviours (optional)

  • Internalising

  • Externalising,

Why Is Adaptive Behaviour an Important Concept?

Adaptive behaviour is different to intelligence. Adaptive behaviours are learned behaviours that reflect an individual's social and practical competence to meet the demands of everyday living. To meet the demands of their environments, each person must learn a set of skills. As environments change, people must learn new skills in order continue to meet the environmental demands.

Communication

Need to see a speech pathologist about a potential learning difficulty, but nowhere is accepting referrals?

We are fully certified to administer the Pearson Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals (CELF-5) screener Assessment (click here for further information about the CELF 5 screener) . This screening assessment provides clinicians with a streamlined, flexible approach to assess semantics, morphology, syntax, and pragmatics for students ages 5-21.

Anxiety Management

Need to see a counsellor or psychologist for childhood anxiety but the waitlist exceeds twelve months and your child really requires some strategies now?

We are an accredited provider of Macquarie University's Cool Kids Anxiety Program. The Cool Kids Anxiety Program is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), with a focus on teaching practical skills. The program has undergone continual scientific evaluation and development to include the latest understanding of anxiety and its treatment. Current results indicate that most young people who complete our programs show significant improvement. Following treatment, there are marked increases in school attendance, academic achievement, confidence, number of friends and involvement in extra-curricular activities and decreases in worry, shyness, fear and family distress.

Emotional Regulation

Need to see an OT but you've been told nowhere is accepting new referrals? We can build you an individualised program focused on strengthening independence and confidence until you're able to see you Occupational Therapist.

We would like to emphasise that we are not psychologists, language therapists or occupational therapists; we are bachelor trained university teachers with the knowledge, skills and credentials to facilitate individualised learning programs for every child we work with.
